Sample Schedule
Adhering to a routine is one of the keys to helping your LO thrive. Here are 5 sample daily schedules that break the day into 6 consistent blocks. Feel free to mix-and-match from one category to the other. As all caregivers know, some days your LO might benefit from an activity focused schedule and other days might be more restful.

Gentle and Low Stimulation Sample Schedule -
Morning Wake-up & Breakfast: Wake gently, hydration, breakfast
Personal Care & Morning Activity: Slow personal care + 10-15 min of seated exercise/hand massage, cognitive stimulation (i.e., allow to ‘help’ with chores to highest ability)
Midday Meal & Early Afternoon Rest: Light lunch, listen to music, look at photos, long rest/nap
Afternoon Activity & Snack: Outdoor time (weather permitting), sit on deck/porch, simple sensory activies (i.e., folding or washing)
Evening Meal & Wind-down: Supper, calm evening activities (i.e., soft music, gentle stretching, low light)
Bedtime Routine & Sleep: Optional snack, perform bedtime rituals and lay down for sleep

Active Morning and Restful Afternoon Sample Schedule (Memory Care Style) –
Morning Wake-up & Breakfast: Wake up, personal care/hygiene, breakfast in dining room
Personal Care & Morning Activity: Hygiene, group exercise class/coffee social/music group
Midday Meal & Early Afternoon Rest: Lunch and nap/rest
Afternoon Activity & Snack: One-on-one activities (i.e., cards or games), looking at photos, snack
Evening Meal & Wind-down: Supper, evening activities (i.e., trivia, movie, bingo)
Bedtime Routine & Sleep: Optional snack, perform bedtime rituals and lay down for sleep

Very Early to Bed Sample Schedule (for Individuals with Heavy Sundowning or Low Energy) -
Morning Wake-up & Breakfast: Natural wake up, breakfast in dining room
Personal Care & Morning Activity: Hygiene, short walk/patio, favorite activity (i.e., music, video call with family)
Midday Meal & Early Afternoon Rest: Lunch (main hot meal), rest/nap
Afternoon Activity & Snack: Calm sensory activity, snack
Evening Meal & Wind-down: Supper, calm evening activities (i.e., soft music, gentle stretching, low light)
Bedtime Routine & Sleep: Optional snack, perform bedtime rituals and lay down for sleep (by 7:00 pm)

Home-Focused Family Caregiver Sample Schedule –
Morning Wake-up & Breakfast: Gentle wake up (i.e. open bedroom curtains), breakfast together
Personal Care & Morning Activity: Hygiene, short house or yard walk, coffee, newspaper, simple tasks (i.e., folding or watering plants)
Midday Meal & Early Afternoon Rest: Lunch, rest/nap (chair or bed)
Afternoon Activity & Snack: Puzzles, word search, read, snack
Evening Meal & Wind-down: Supper, calm family/visitors time
Bedtime Routine & Sleep: Optional snack, perform bedtime rituals and lay down for sleep

High-Needs, Late-Stage Comfort Sample Schedule –
Morning Wake-up & Breakfast: Flexible wake window, small breakfast in room
Personal Care & Morning Activity: Full hygiene, positioning, skin care, comfort time (i.e., blanket, TV show, music)
Midday Meal & Early Afternoon Rest: Lunch, quiet rest (with caregiver repositioning)
Afternoon Activity & Snack: Sensory comfort (i.e., warm cloth, nice smells, gentle music), mouth care
Evening Meal & Wind-down: Supper, quiet family presence (singing, reading, praying)
Bedtime Routine & Sleep: final comfort care for the night and night positioning
